US General Says Most Marines Don’t Want Gay Roommates

The top US Marine on Tuesday said most Marines would prefer not to share a room with gay comrades, despite plans by President Barack Obama to lift a ban on gays serving openly in the military. General James Conway, who has made clear his opposition to ending the ban, said if the law is changed the Marine Corps might look for volunteers willing to share quarters with gays as some “very religious” members objected to rooming with homosexuals. “I can tell you that an overwhelming majority would like not to be roomed with a person who is openly homosexual,” Conway told a Pentagon press conference.

It doesn’t matter what they want. What matters is they do the right thing and repeal DADT.

I’m sure these same “decent and moral” people would feel the same way about sharing a room with their brethren who are fornicators of which they should be equally offended. It has nothing to do with religion and everything to do with the military being openly hostile and violent toward homosexuals.

Makes me wonder if after DADT is repealed the next fight will be to insist the military protect the openly gay soldiers that will surely come under friendly fire.

Reminds me of the previous top marine Peter Pace – who said something about moral values to demonize gays.

the QT is that the service with the largest percentagae of gays is guess what – the Marines. Met a few str8 marines, and they gave me the lowdown.

And except for some zealots and people whose rank should only be ‘bullet stoppers”, the marines don’t care a bit about their fellow solider sexuality – they care about whether each one can protect the other. As wella s our country.

And of course they realize that most all of those gay marinesx are already living with, showering with, and sharing rooms and foxholes with gay marines.

The real issue is that when the gay soldiers come out, all the good old (christian) boys from the south will realize that gay people are good people, worthy of our love and respect.

And the hate filled churches of the south will eventually become museums to teach future generations about hatred in the name of God.

while their pastors will die pennyless, wondering to the last breath why the wworld changed, and hatred no longer won the day.

I have read before that the percentage of Marines are gay is far higher than anyother Military Branch of Service. That is why they are all so good looking. I have all the respect in the world for these Men & Women who are serving our great country, even though they might be gay or not…
