UK Gay Police Officer Wins Discrimination Case

A gay black police officer has won his case of racial and sexual orientation discrimination against Scotland Yard. Det Con Kevin Maxwell, 33, who serves in the Metropolitan Police’s counter terrorism command, won his case at Reading Employment Tribunal. He was targeted while working at Heathrow Airport, before July 2009, the tribunal heard. Scotland Yard said it was disappointed at the tribunal’s findings and would launch an internal investigation.
