Minnesotans Urge District to Discipline Teachers for Gay Slurs
Although he was straight, he said, two teachers made constant remarks about his perceived homosexuality. Classmates started to chime in and taunt him on a daily basis. Alex Merritt wanted to leave it all behind. More than a year ago, he relocated from Anoka-Hennepin School District’s vocational program during 11th grade to Zimmerman High School, some 25 miles from home, where he just finished his senior year. On Monday, Merritt returned to the school district that brought him painful memories he would rather forget.
