Joan Rivers Urges Gay Stars to ‘Stay in the Closet’

Joan Rivers has caused controversy by urging gay stars not to reveal their true sexuality – because coming out could damage their career. The outspoken comedienne is adamant show business is still difficult for homosexual stars, and she’s convinced they would be better off keeping their love life private until they become well-established as an artist. And Rivers cites singer Ricky Martin, who revealed he’s gay in March after years of speculation, as an example.

    This is a very weird statement from someone who has over the years lived off and profited from a “gay Audience” and many “gay Fans ” …..
    could it be a last ditch attempt for visibility ?
    or some kind of paradox that really is a call to come out ?
