An activist who helped overturn California’s law allowing same-sex marriage says he will urge Iowa voters to reverse that state’s law allowing such marriages. Brian Brown, the leader of the Nation Organization for Marriage’s efforts in California and now the group’s executive director, is seeking nationwide support to fight laws allowing gay marriage. Iowa became a battleground after the state Supreme Court ruled April 3 that a law defining marriage as only between a man and a woman is unconstitutional, the Los Angeles Times reported Monday.
