Houston Mayor Endorses National Drive for Marriage Equality
Houston Mayor Annise Parker today joined mayors from Los Angeles, New York City, San Diego, Boston and Tacoma, Wash., to endorse equality for same-sex married couples as part of a bipartisan drive by 78 mayors within the U.S. Conference of Mayors. Parker, the first openly gay mayor of Houston, addressed a news conference in Washington, D.C., to launch the election-year effort to support the freedom of gay and lesbian couples to marry and to enjoy the full rights of married couples.
