Gay Teen in Tennessee Hangs Himself

A gay teen in Tennessee killed himself on Friday after leaving a note in a trash can that read “please help me mom,” WSMV-TV in Nashville reports. Phillip Parker, 14, hanged himself in his foster parents’ bathroom in Gordonsville after one year of constant bullying, family members told WSMV, an NBC affiliate. “He kept telling me he had a rock on his chest,” Ruby Harris, Phillip’s grandmother, told the station. “He just wanted to take the rock off where he could breathe.”

Why should I be surprised. I wish heterosexual people would leave us gay people alone. All we want is to be excepted. We can’t help who we are. If straights don’t want us around them(all though this is suppose to be a free country) say so. They don’t have to be mean about it.

It is this such a sad story that makes it clear that being gay is not a choice for most of us. Many of us can remember the pain of coming out. And many of us have been blessed with fabulous lives once we came through this struggle. We all need to do what we can to spread the word, to be there for our young gay and lesbian brothers and sisters. We can not afford to loose anymore of our youth.
