Gay Marriages Can Resume In California

A judge has ruled that gay marriages can resume in California from next week. The order to allow gay weddings will take effect from next Wednesday, Federal Judge Vaughn Walker said. The delay was intended to give an appeals court time to consider whether the voter-approved ban, known as Proposition 8, should be left intact while it considers the merits of the overall case. California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger said: “I am pleased to see Judge Walker lift his stay and provide all Californians the liberties I believe everyone deserves. “Today’s ruling continues to place California at the forefront in providing freedom and equality for all people.”

    Imperial County was going to appeal the stay to the 9th Circuit Court. What happened with that? (I don’t think they quite got the judge’s message when they asked the first time.
