Gates Seeks Flexibility in Military Gay Ban

U.S. Defense Secretary Robert Gates says the Pentagon is searching for ways to make the ban on gays serving openly in the military more flexible. A transcript released by the Pentagon shows Gates is looking at several options that would make the military’s policy “more humane,” CNN reported Wednesday. Should we applaud? Hardly. Let’s re-phrase the issue: Obama is asking for flexibility on National Security. If these men and women are protecting our country and protection of “AMERICA” IS THE NUMBER ONE GOAL – then nothing short of a full repeal is putting national security first!

The Republicans didn’t put National Security first, now neither are the Dems.

The national security risk is higher with married soldiers who become “single” while they are on overseas duty. These soldiers can be blackmailed for their “extra curicular activities” while overseas. If a soldier is gay and can live as a gay, they cannot be blackmailed so the security risk is nil. There are many gays serving proudly and honorably in the military. Let them serve without living in fear of being discharged. Discrimination should not be allowed whether military or civilian. Other countries have proved that Gays can serve and serve honorably.
