Founder of Insemination Site Jailed
LONDON, April 9 (UPI)
A British entrepreneur who founded a now-defunct Web site selling sperm to women seeking children has been sentenced to 16 months in prison for fraud.
John Gonzalez of Studley Green in Buckinghamshire was found to have concealed company assets to deceive creditors and use the money for himself when the Web site folded, The Daily Telegraph reported.
The company, mannotincluded.com, was established in June 2002 and went out of business 30 months later, owing almost $500,000. The site — which sold fresh sperm to would-be parents who did the insemination themselves — was aimed mainly at single women and lesbian couples.
Investigators found that Gonzalez told liquidators the trademark was owned by a Cyprus company and falsely claimed the company owed $250,000 more than its actual debt.
A judge barred Gonzalez from serving as a company director for five years.
