A visit to Oregon Health and Science University hospital turned into a frustrating situation for a gay couple who said their rights as domestic partners were not honored until a lawyer got involved. The domestic partner of a man who appeared to be near death was reportedly ordered to leave the room when it was time to make some major decisions about the patient. This is scary; I am in a Domestic Partnership, and I have health issues, as does my partner. She has family right here in the city, but I do not; suppose something really serious were to happen to me, and an immediate decision needed to be made; how can I be SURE that my wishes are going to be honored, and that my partner is going to be respected?
